A Site Specific Installation for the Miami Design District

Rodriguez has been commissioned to create a site-specific visual installation for the top floor windows of the Sweetbird building. Created by arranging exotic orchids and South Florida foliage on a scanner, Rodriguez leaves the scanner lid open to record the changing natural light at sunrise, while also documenting the vitality of the plant’s life. The final high-resolution scan magnifies the flora’s details, while creating abstraction and digital interruptions. The studio process marries technology with the natural world while furthering the tension between what is artificial and authentic. From various vantage points the vinyl prints illuminate from the sunlight and later glow at night from the ambient lighting of the Design District's urban oasis.
